Welcome to the second chapter of The Boy Who Made Silence. In this chapter we relive the morning of Nestor's silence through the eyes of some of the other characters, which gives us a chance to get to know the town. As the series progresses, keep a look out for characters such as elderly couple Sarah and Normaldy Belcher. Sarah, who likely suffers from dementia often confuses Normaldy for Earl, her first husband who died in World War II as a sailor in the South Pacific. Though they and others are minor characters, they are the stars of issues two and three and continue to pop up throughout the series. Everyone's pasts are important to Nestor's transfiguration and to the future direction of the town.

Welcome to The Boy Who Made Silence Blog!

For my first post, I thought I'd upload the cover for the upcoming trade paperback of Volume 1, which will be published by Markosia sometime before the summer of 2010.

In the meantime, I'm going to do a little experiment and start serializing issues one through six right here on my blog for free. Feel free to swipe 'em and post them elsewhere. That would be appreciated actually.

This is not the best way to read it, but as you might or might not know it's awful hard to find issues of The Boy Who Made Silence out there in the world. I've been asked why many, many times, and all I can tell you is that the world of comics distributing is fucked. So no more single issues are to be published.

Here are a couple of other ways you can read it:

1) Order issues one through six directly from Markosia.
2) Download issue 1 from iTunes.
3) Read issue 1 on myebook.com

Eventually, I'll finish the series and the second half will be published as a second volume graphic novel. In it's final form, The Boy Who Made Silence will be a two-volume graphic novel or trade paperback, however you prefer to think of it.

The main struggle with finishing the book has had to do with insufficient funding (what else?). There doesn't seem to exist a market for The Boy Who Made Silence, to be frank. So I ask for your patience as we try various experiments to raise money and to get the word out. It's been a very long time since I've been able to work on the book or on promoting it. I will try to ease my way back in, but if I'm not as regular with my posts here as would be preferable, please understand the difficulty of finding the time.

As best I as I can, I will "regularly" post updates, some number of pages at a time, so you can keep up with the story. They'll also be archived, so you can always come back and see what you missed. If you like it, please tell others.

I need any and all help I can get and will take all comers who would like to contribute in some way. The next step is an actual website. Perhaps an improved web comics format. I'm even looking for someone to help out on the watercolors for the interior art.
